Link the Words
Ask learners to count the words before revealing the transcript. Mark consonant-to-vowel links and shadow the whole phrase. Accept different natural degrees of linking; intelligibility is the goal.
Teach it in five minutes
- One minute: play the models without correction. Ask what difference learners notice.
- One minute: complete the three listening questions; elicit the evidence for each answer.
- One minute: reveal the written patterns and practise the target contrast or rhythm.
- Two minutes: use the shadow sentence, then exchange a new sentence with a partner. Let the listener report what they understood.
