What do you check before taking a bus?

Predict one detail before you read. Check your prediction against the text.

01 / Read for specific information

Defne is visiting her friend Maya on Saturday. Maya lives near the city park. Defne has a blue bus card, but she does not know the best bus.

At the stop, she reads the sign. Bus 12 goes to the park. It comes at ten past ten. Defne checks her phone. It is ten o’clock, so she has ten minutes.

A woman asks, “Does this bus stop near the park?” Defne says, “Yes, bus 12 stops there.” The woman smiles. They get on the bus together.

Defne sits by the window. She watches the shops and the trees. At the park, she says goodbye to the woman and calls Maya. The trip is short and easy.
